"I think myself I ought to be shot for writing such nonsense.... But it's unquestionably good escapist literature and I think I should rather like it if I were sitting in an air-raid shelter or recovering from flu."

Georgette Heyer

I was a military brat, travelling throughout Canada and the US. I have called the Prairies, the Maritimes, California and Ontario home.

I discovered my love for acting and writing at age 11. In the many years since my debut in The Sound of Music at Kingston Elementary school, I have sung, acted, pretended I could dance, written, directed and produced. In my early 20s, I was the co-founder of a Shakespearean Street Theatre company – A Company of Fools. The Fools continue to bring Shakespeare to life in the Ottawa Capitol Region. I have written and performed several one-woman shows (Date Him Date His Angst, Five Years Behind in my Five-Year Plan, How to Leave Adolescence at 30, More Work than a Puppy) at theatre festivals in both Canada and the US.

I fell in love with Jesus Christ Superstar at the age of 5. I would lie on our shag carpet in the living room, poring over the libretto booklet, trying to figure out which of its drawings depicted Ian Gillan. My Super Bowl Sunday takes place every June in New York City – but it’s called the Tony Awards. I am the creator/librettist for Mythos: The Crimson Chorus – an original vampire rock opera that was a concert selection at the New York Musical Festival.

My husband succumbed to my charms watching my portrayal of the Nurse in Romeo & Juliet… doing the chicken dance… in red-nose clown. We married, and soon after, had a daughter. Later, I was a traditional surrogate for a gay couple, whereupon I wrote three diversity-friendly children’s books: Monicka’s Papa is Tall, Ryan’s Mom is Tall and The Not-So-Only Child. Our house always has pets, mostly cats, but sometimes a senior dog will share our home for a few years.

I’ve penned some novels, rom-com screenplays, designed for web and print and spent a decade comic blogging at What the Pooh Dude.

Making people laugh makes me very happy, indeed.
